If I Stay (2014)

by - December 01, 2014

The trailer was out a few months ago and I was so eager to watch it in the cinemas but sadly, I receive news that it won't be on screen in Malaysia. Pretty much forgot about this movie ever since until yesterday, when I was trying to Torrent 'Love, Rosie', this popped out instead!

Initially, I didn't really get this movie because it's a time travel kind of setting. One moment, it shows the present and the next, would be the past; the incidents and memories that happened. I didn't know about it and was confused but soon, I got the storyline.

From the movie cover and trailer, I assumed that this might be another 'The Fault In Our Stars' but it turned out to be different. It's not just about romance, but very much what I am going through and what I have been through and also, loads of music related scenes.

This movie is about a guy name Adam who is like the high school pop star who sings and plays in a band that is adored by a lot of people and then there's this girl name Mia, who is more into classical music and she plays the cello very beautifully.

One day, Adam spotted Mia practicing in school playing her cello and eventually, Adam managed to ask Mia to go on a concert date. They did further their relationship until, Mia wanted and applied for Juilliard (this was once my dream) which the school is located in New York. Mia didn't tell Adam about her application until she was offered an audition. They both got into an argument mainly because Mia did not tell Adam about it earlier and the fact that they are going to be in a long distance relationship which Adam sees it as bullshit because to him, it would be like dating a ghost. (Yeah Adam, look what I am going through right now lol)

Of course, in the end Adam apologized and supported Mia to go to Juilliard but things did not went on well on New Year's night as they both think that things are not going to work out. So, they went on their separate ways and then on the day that Mia agreed to go for a vacation with her family, they got into a car crash. Did all of them survive? Did Mia get into Juilliard? What about Adam and Mia?

Overall, this is a pretty good movie and another chick flick to me (maybe that's why I enjoyed it entirely). I would give this movie a rating of 3.8/5. Don't ask me why it's a '3.8' because it just felt like it.

Chloe Moretz (Mia) is so pretty! *fangirl scream* Guess what? She's actually 2 years younger than me and she's looking like that whereas me, what am I?
