A'Roma Dinings, Petaling Jaya

Just as every single day of my life inclusive of Valentine's Day, it has always been special but there are some certain days where it's different from other days. Haha. For this year's Valentine's, we initially agreed on just a nice dinner but then a few days before Valentine's Day, my boyfriend was questioning me to get hints on what I want / need. It sounded fishy, and it was kind of obvious he was trying to get me something. I then told him that I do not need any presents, just spending time together will be more than enough.

Then the insecure side of me sparked up and I thought to myself,

"What if he actually bought me a gift and end up I'm the one without a gift for him?"

I was still at work on that day, and my boyfriend won't be back in KL till probably midnight or so. Hence, I started Googling for affordable gift ideas, and finally settled with men's fragrance. I was unsure if it was a good idea because firstly, he already has a fragrance but I have not gifted him one before and secondly, I always find men fragrances smell the same. The difference in smell of the fragrance to me are pretty mild and I don't know what would suit him the best. In the end, I just went with what I would like him to smell like (for me to sniff). HAHA!

Got him this newly launch fragrance by Tommy Hilfiger because it has the most unique smell between all the others that I have surveyed. I was hoping to be able to buy a Hugo Boss but no one was at the counter to entertain me and there was no samples displayed on the counter too. Stood there for 15 minutes looking through the glass display shelf and still no one came by. In the end I gave up and just walked around, which then I was entertained by this person who was in charge of a few products.

I was first asked how old my boyfriend is, and with that, he recommended me a few and I liked the Tommy Hilfiger's best! PS: The promoter is gay (I think). Probably that's why he understand a girl's perspective? HAHA!

This is his super duper happy face when he finally opened the gift! Yes, I got lecturing from him before and after he opened his gift, but to be able to see this reacting, smile and this happy side of him is just priceless and I would do anything to keep this smile on his face.

We had mixed rice for lunch because we knew we were going to spend a little more for dinner that night. It was then time for Deadpool after lunch at Setiawalk and it was such a good movie! Heard from a friend who is currently studying in UK, that Deadpool has a lot of scenes that was actually cut out in Malaysia. Fred not, there's always torrent. 😂

Later that evening, we were both tired and took a nap, which we only woke up at about 8pm or so. We initially planned to head to the city to have dinner in Acme Bar & Coffee, but when my boyfriend checked, we only found out that they are only serving those who pre-booked a table earlier. Then my boyfriend suggested Italinnies or we could head over to A'Roma Dinings, where his really good friend, Jon, is working there as a chef, and the place opens till midnight. Plus point on the opening hours as I needed to shower and get ready before we could head out.

We first texted Jon to make sure they are still taking in customers, and we finally got there at 9.30pm? Haha. This is definitely my most expensive and high class 'supper' ever!

6 course Valentine's Day set menu.

Cocktails which were too strong for us, but it definitely took away my drowsiness from the evening nap.

1st (Arousal)
Amuse-Bouche
Cured Saba and Risotto Crips

Mackerel Fish as our appetizer and I almost ate it all in one mouth. Haha. But in the end, I decided to cut it into even smaller pieces and enjoy it even longer. Being someone who isn't too fond of greens, the green sauce on the plate somehow tasted like raw veggie squeezed into juice. Or maybe that's the way it was made. Haha.

We were then served with complimentary nachos-like bread with sauce.

2nd (Foreplay)
Prosciutto di Parma e Melone
Parma Ham, Cantaloupe Melon & Arugula Salad

Not a big fan for the melon and salad, but the ham was so good! However, when eaten with the melon together, it lightens up the saltiness from the ham and gives it a tinge of sweet flavoring.

Foie Gras

This was not a part of the Valentine's Day set menu, but it was a special serving by Jon and it was on the house! This is actually duck liver and it was so so good! Tasted like 'siew yok' but only way better. Thank you for the wondering dish, Jon!

3rd (Action)
Pork Ragu Pappardelle
100% Homemade Pappardelle, Minced Pork & Bolognese

After trying out a number of new and unique dishes, it's definitely nice to have something familiar which I actually like!

4th (Climax)
Salmon

I didn't manage to ask how did they cook the Salmon, but it tasted very much like grilled salmon. It wasn't stated in the menu, but I was given this choice when they were taking the orders. Good choice that I picked the Salmon because I was already pretty stuffed after the supposedly 3rd course minus the Foie Gras. Portion was just nice for a small eater like me.

4th (Climax)
Grilled Beef Tenderloin
Char-Grilled, Rosemary Potatoes & Mixed Salad

My boyfriend ordered the grilled beef and it was equally delicious.

5th (Afterglow)
Don Sergio's Meringue
Baked, Crusty Exterior, Fluffy Interior, Whipped Cream & Berries

Time for dessert! Didn't expect Jon to personalize our dessert for us with our initials next to it!
MT &...

TL. Cool!

Sexy beast <3

Sleepy potato .___.

6th (Lights Off)
"Quickie" Shooter for Ladies

I was told that the alcohol content in this was very very mild. More of a chocolaty flavor kind of shot. This was my very first shot and I think that might be my last. Haha. For a non drinker and someone who super low alcohol tolerance, I actually tasted more alcohol rather than the chocolate flavor. Seconds after that, I felt my throat burning, and the burn slowly moved towards my chest and all the way to my stomach. I swear it gave me a feeling which I thought I was going to have diarrhea. Haha.

6th (Afterglow)
Espresso for Men

Whereas for the gentleman, he drank this shot of espresso at 11pm at night which successfully kept him awake for almost the entire night.

Special shoutout to Chef Jon for the lovely servings!

Thank you for the wonderful experience, sweetheart. I hope you enjoyed this Valentine's as much as I did. Love you to the moon and back ❤︎
