Marina Bay Sands & Gardens By The Bay | Christmas in Singapore 2016

by - December 29, 2016

After breakfast, I headed back into the hotel room to get some work done before heading out. Work took longer than expected and I only left at 2.30pm.

MRT Route that I took: Bugis (East West Line) - City Hall (interchange to North South Line) - Marina Bay (interchange to Circle Line) - Bayfront.

What I did not realize was that I could have just taken the Downtown Line that connects Bugis station to Bayfront station which is just two stations away 😑.

Exiting Bayfront station, follow the signages towards Marina Bay Sands (if that is where you're headed) and it'll lead you directly into the mall.

Upon arriving, I headed my way straight for the outdoor because I just love the skyline there.

The previous time I was there, we did not make it all the way to Merlion Park from Marina Bay Sands because it was rather far. However this time since I was alone, I decided to try it again.

Walk towards ArtScience Museum..

Detoured a little when I saw this walkway

...up the Helix Bridge...

...and just follow the connecting walkways...

...until you arrive Merlion Park.

The whole walk took me about 30-40 minutes as I was just taking my own time, no rush, and enjoyed the view. While walking, there were a few other tourists who asked me to help them with a photo or two. What annoyed me a little was I expected them to ask me back in return so that I could have more than just selfie photo of myself. Sadly, none of them asked. So, I had to do it myself. Pfft.

I then walked back all the way to Marina Bay Sands, to get over to Gardens by the Bay.

Look for Chanel inside The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Next to the store, there should be an escalator that would lead you up and eventually out to a connecting bridge towards Gardens by the Bay.

As I was alone, I took my time strolling around the whole place. I was hoping to see some Christmas stuff there but I was there a few days early. They were still setting up everything except for a few lights that was already up.

The previous time I was there, I didn't had the chance to enter the domes which I really wanted to. Hence, I took the chance to do so this round. It cost me SGD28 for both the domes. Personally, I enjoy Cloud Forest more than Flower Dome. Unless you're someone who is fond of different species of flowers then flower dome would be quite right for you.

CLOUD FOREST

Before getting on these bridges, I was excited but the moment I step foot on it, I regretted! My legs and hands were shaky. It was a rather scary experience for me but I gather my courage to finish the walk (and also because its the only way out and down). Haha. Nonetheless, I do quite enjoyed it.

FLOWER DOME

Later that evening, my friend Germaine came by for a meet up and dinner. We ate in Gardens by the Bay as there were a few restaurants there right infant of Supertree Grove. My initial plan was also to stay in Gardens by the Bay till night time to watch the light show that is on display every night at 7.45pm. However for Christmas season, Christmas carols were played and the lights synchronized with the music. (Watch more in my vlog)

We then headed back to Marina Bay Sands to catch the MRT back to our respective places.

My flight was in the afternoon the next day. I spent my morning around Bugis (which I did not take any photo) and then the hotel got me a cab to drive me to the airport.

It was a short and impromptu trip, but it was definitely nice to be able to visit Singapore again. Can't wait for the next trip!

VLOG:

Oh, it's the 5th day of Christmas today. So, MERRY CHRISTMAS to all my readers! Sorry that the blog posts were a week late because I was busy with finals, and then I had my Christmas plans and travel as well. Since now I have a few days more of break before internship, I shall use the time I have to catch up on all my posts! Hehe. This year, I did a Christmas Medley on the piano. So, do check it out if you're interested.

Signing off. xx

Sincerely, Mels
